The Vegan Hair Kit

I am really aware that the beauty industry is less than kind to our planet, this is something I really struggle with, and I am continually trying to better my practices to reduce my impact professionally and personally.

About a year ago I decided I would start replacing all of my products, as they ran out, with vegan and cruelty free alternatives. This has been super easy with my hair kit but a longer transition with my makeup kit.

I am really chuffed to say that my hair kit is now entirely vegan and cruelty free 🌱I’m sharing some of my favourite discoveries below ✌🏻

Design.ME

My one go to, cannot live without product is the Design.ME Puff.ME texturising powder. Every time you see a beautiful full braid, volumised waves or a textured updo I have for sure covered the hair in this. When I started replacing my hair products with cruelty free and vegan alternatives I did an actual happy dance when I discovered Design.ME are vegan 🌱

Design.ME Hold.ME - this hair spray smells amazing, and comes with an adjustable nozzle so that you can give a light, medium or firm hold all from the same can.

Plus, I’m a sucker for packaging, and the Design.ME products look great.

SGX NYC

Drawn in by the packaging again, I recently added two SGX NYC products to my kit. The Under Control Finishing Spray, which gives great hold without changing the feel or the appearance of the hair, and The Bodyguard Protective Texture Spray which I love. Spray on and brush through before curling for thermal protection and a malleable texture, or spray on to already straightened or waved hair for a light hold and lived in texture.

Maria Nila

My personal favourite vegan shampoo and conditioner are those by Maria Nila - I’m currently using the Silver shampoo and conditioner and they smell and feel devine. The conditioner especially feels like a salon treatment for my dry and frizzy mane.

I am also obsessed with the Salty Cream for defining curls and the Ocean Spray for creating boho beach waves.

Unpopular opinion - I hate dry shampoo. I hate how it feels, I just can’t get on board with it. However, I have heard great things about the Maria Nila Invisidry Shampoo so am going to give this go.

My favourite thing about this company is that they’re not only cruelty free and vegan, but they’re passionate about climate friendly packaging and carbon offsetting too.

I’m really interested in moving away from aerosol finishing products but have only just started researching. If you have any recommendations please let me know 🌱💚
